Macho, Macho Men

So today Griffin, myself, Kerri and Bryce went to the My Little Ponies show at the Fargodome. I needed a break from all the power rangers fighting, pirate talking, gangsta shooting, etc. Ok, so I won the tickets but it was refreshing to see some girly, frilly stuff anyway. The boys were talking about the "tea party" wth the ponies and boy were their dads proud! Bryce needed a little practice in case he has a little sister and Griffin needed to get in touch with his feminine side. Was cute and mildly entertaining so a fun day. Afterwards, Gus had dinner waiting for us and the Whipples so that was a treat.

Kerri-guess we need to take the boys out more often. Nothing like a hot meal waiting for us!

Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming...

Gramma Kathy was in town for work so we got to go try out the Ramada's waterslide and pools. Griffin showed absolutely no fear wanting to do it all by himself over and over and over..... We were tired by the end of the night but boy he kept going strong. Ian wasn't too fond of the cool water and once Griffin went into the hot tub he wanted me to "turn on the heater" for the other pools. Thanks for a fun night gwamma kassie!

Tough day at the office

http://www.tv.com/media_player/7195/105/viewer.php&context_type=101&context_id=22343#media-7195

And I thought my day at work was rough. Why do we have to work? Sometimes it sure isn't fun and I don't really want to go back tomorrow. Do I have to?

Who knew getting skinny was so expensive?

Checked out some fitness places tonight. Who knew getting a little exercise would be so expensive?!?!?! For the price they are charging I expect to get lips like Angelina Jolie, a butt like J-Lo and legs like Cameron Diaz---overnight! Why doesn't it work running after a busy 3 yr old. Guess the hunt continues for a workout place. On second thought, maybe I could get a membership, take a book, and park myself somewhere hidden in the gym for an hr or 2 of peace each night. Not sure the 6-pack abs would jump out but sure sounds relaxing.

Normal Griffin conversation

Griffin: "mom, can I have some licorice?"
Me: "no, sorry we don't have any."
Griffin: "well what do we have for junk food anyway?"

So we have ourselves a junk food junkie. Asks for gum ever since cousin Travis gave him his first piece this summer. If not gum, wants chips or candy ALL THE TIME. Good thing his cousin JJ is finishing dental school as looks like we may have some issues. Will we get a discount? Luckily we have a pirate toothbrush (yes everything is pirates at our house including the toothbrush) to take care of his "suger bugs."

Visitors

Today we had one of my oldest friends in town from Minneapolis, Sarah and Dave Herzog. Sarah and I have been friends since junior high in Bismarck. Her daughter Lily is exactly one year younger than Griffin and Bridget is exactly one month older than Ian. The older kids had fun swimming while the younger ones hung with the moms taking it all in. Sure see a difference with having 2 girls around vs 2 boys! Doesn't Griffin look thrilled to be taking this picture. Then we have Lily posing so pretty. After I took the pic, she said "you can do that again." How cute! Griffin didn't seem to complain about having to wear the earplugs and earband. We decided at the end of this summer maybe we didn't need to use them anymore since it has been more than a year since the tubes were put in. Well, one month later he had his first ear infection in a yr and a half. Guess it's back to the stylin' gear! Anyway, so glad to have our friends in town and reconnect.

OUCH.....Shots for Ian

Ian had his 4 month appt today. He came in at a whopping 18 lb 1 oz and 27 in long (97th% for both). Guess my dreams for a petite child are gone. What was I thinking anyway? Have you seen my and Gus' family? Guess it was just wishful thinking. Ian was pretty fussy tonight but I guess after being poked 3 times in those chubby thighs, drinking the rotovirus medicine then cutting 2 teeth, he has had a tough day. Life is sure hard as a baby huh?!?!?!Posted by Picasa

Suzi's Addition

Today was an exciting day for my step-sister Suzi. She got the call from Guatemala that the little boy they are adopting was born. They will have to wait many, many months to bring him home to Minnesota but we are excited to meet him and congrats to Suzi, Henry and family!

Dinner guests

We were so happy to have dinner guests, Courtney and Travis, over tonight. I always like to experiment on something new for our guests. This way if it is awful I can say "well, I never made that before and don't plan to again." Plus if I don't like it there will be less leftovers for me to have to suffer and eat for the next 8 days. That's right, such a great hostess. Courtney is Griffin's fairy godmother (and my cousin) and Travis will get to step into the godfather role next Oct when these 2 lovebirds tie the knot. Griffin had fun fighting swords tonight with Travis--he had no idea it would be so deadly but he needs to practice with the kids because someday.........!

Visits to family

Tonight Griffin and I made some visits to Great Gramma Pat and Auntie Les. At Grandma Pat's he immediately asked for licorice (gramma always has our favorite treat) and wanted to watch Power Rangers. Then off to Les' and he promptly asked for string cheese. Guess he has priorities. He had so much fun playing with the cats and laser pointer. Who knew a 3 dollar thing would entertain a 3 1/2 yr old for so long? So glad to be in Fargo with all our family! We love you guys!

Griffin bathing Ian

This is one of my favorite videos of the boys so far--just in case you didn't see it on my Picassa website. Priceless!

Getting the hang of this!

So I got my one-on-one personal tutorial from Mrs. Watzke last night so watch out for some crazy stuff on here. Don't look at her blog as I plan to steal all her ideas and make them even better on my own! Such a good friend I know.

OK I finally gave in!

Allright, the time has come for our family to get with the times and join the techy world. We are now presenting our new family blog. I hope you enjoy it and come back often. We will see how saavy I can get with this darn thing. Won't be sending out an invite to see it until I figure out what the heck I am doing.
